The last thing you need to worry about is getting your sign ups from Squarespace into your email platform of choice. When you have your email subscribers automated, you can focus on other things, so in this tutorial I’ll show you how to connect your Squarespace forms to your Email Service Provider so it all happens on autopilot and you can get back to running your business.

How to connect Squarespace forms with your Email Service Provider

(In this tutorial I use ConvertKit, but you can use the steps to connect with your ESP of choice)

Squarespace has a fantastic looking form that is sleek and pretty, so if you’re wanting to use it to capture leads and subscribers I’m going to show you how you can do this for any email service provider.

There is a direct connection with Mailchimp and I show you how to integrate these two platforms here, but I don’t particularly like Mailchimp for emails, which is why I personally use ConvertKit.

However the steps I show you can be used with any email service provider.

I show you two ways in this tutorial.

  1. Using the direct Zapier connection (for Business/Pro Squarespace subscription) and

  2. Using the connection via Google Sheets (for Personal/Basic Squarespace subscription)

Watch the video below to see it all in action, or scroll to read the instructions.

Skip to 11 minutes 45 seconds to watch how I use the connection with Google Sheets.

How to connect Squarespace forms to your email service provider using Zapier

STEP 1 : Add your form to your site using the teardrop and choosing the Form module.

STEP 2: Edit the form so you have the relevant information being captured. Usually this is just First Name and Email.  Delete the fields you won’t need. Also in the Advanced section, make sure you change the button copy and input your thank you message or URL for custom thank you page.

STEP 3: Click Storage and click the button to connect with Zapier, this will give you a message saying, waiting for connection.

STEP 4: Sign up for a Zapier account (it’s free for 5 Zaps) or log into your Zapier account if you already have one. Select Make a Zap and choose Squarespace and then your ESP platform – in this tutorial I select ConvertKit.

STEP 5: Connect your relevant accounts using your API keys from each platform. You can find the Squarespace API key generator under Settings>Advanced>Developer API.

STEP 6: Once you’ve connected your accounts and given Zapier permission to send data to and from each one, go through the steps to connect the correct form in Squarespace to the correct list or form in your ESP (email service provider). You will be given the option to send test data, which you should do and then check that the subscriber information is being sent to your ESP. You may need to test the form yourself by adding a “test” email address to make sure the whole process works.

STEP 7: Once you’ve turned on your Zap, go into your Squarespace form and you should see in the storage section that the connection with Zapier is live.  And that’s all done.

How to automate your subscriber sign-ups

Once you connect your Squarespace forms with your email service provider, this means you can relax while you know your subscribers are automatically being sent from your website to your ESP.

Don’t forget you might want to set up a welcome sequence to help make a deeper connection with your subscribers and let them get to know you, your brand and your products.
